What to do in Denver this weekend: A pool party, a brewery block party and French fare

Pool party!

Saturday, July 16. One of the most unusual parties in Colorado makes a splash in Longmont after a two-year pandemic hiatus. Wibby Brewing’s Hooplagers pool party and beach bash features several huge, above-ground pools where adults can act like kids (responsible kids), float on some pool toys, frolic with blow-up flamingos and enjoy Wibby’s award-winning collection of lager beers, along with unlimited pours from up to 50 other Colorado breweries. There also will be food, pool games and the sounds of steel drum music to provide tropical vibes.

Before you grab your swimsuit and towel, however, pick up one non-perishable food item to donate when you enter, as it is required along with your ticket. And if you don’t want to drive from Denver, Wibby is offering party trolleys and discounted rates at local hotels. Get tickets ($45) and information at events.eventgroove.com. The party starts at noon at 209 Emory St., Longmont.

Friday-Sunday. If you need more beery fun, Joyride Brewing celebrates its eighth anniversary with a blowout block party featuring live music from nine bands, food trucks, multiple beers made in collaboration with other breweries, a kids zone and, of course, plenty of Ice Cutter Kölsch, which just won a gold medal at the World Beer Cup.

The bands will play on a stage on the street, which will be closed to traffic, for all three days. The lineup includes Hunter James and the Titanic, Midnight Shakedown, El Paso Lasso and Blue River Grass Band. The block party takes place in front of Joyride, 2501 Sheridan Blvd. in Edgewater, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. joyridebrewing.com.
