Thunderstorms in Larimer County spark dangerous flash floods

After Friday’s thunderstorms, Larimer County is seeing dangerous flash floods in the Crystal Mountain, Wild Song and Buckhorn areas.

The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office is responding to flooding reports in multiple locations in the Buckhorn area, according to a tweet sent around 6:30 p.m. The Red Cross Evacuation Center is set up at Timberline Church located at 2908 South Timberline Road in Fort Collins.

Central Larimer County was issued a flash flood warning until 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. It reported flash flooding east of Glen Haven, along with the Crystal Mountain and Buckhorn areas, leaving County Road 43 impassable. It also can’t be accessed west of Stove Prairie Road.

Buckhorn Creek is likely prone to significant rises, according to the warning.
