Stock Markets Inch Higher as Investors Study Fed Minutes

U.S. stocks rose after minutes from the Federal Reserve indicated how the central bank’s efforts to tame inflation through interest-rate increases may progress. 

The S&P 500 gained 0.4%, or 13.69 points, to 3845.08 on Wednesday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average picked up 0.2%, or 69.86 points, to 31037.68. The Nasdaq Composite Index added 0.3%, or 39.61 points, to 11361.85.
