Little Man Ice Cream scoops up new location in Cherry Hills

Little Man Ice Cream owner Paul Tamburello took over Glacier Homemade Ice Cream & Gelato’s lease in Cherry Hills last week.

On July 4 he opened Little Man Ice Cream’s new location at 3455 S. University Blvd., the same day he opened Little Man’s original location in LoHi 15 years ago.

“We don’t have any grand plans to roll out 100 Little Mans,” Tamburello said. “We like the odd, fun roadside architecture that’s whimsical and inspiring. It’s who we are, so we hesitated to do it (in a storefront). But people on the south side of town always ask us to head that way.”

Glacier Homemade Ice Cream & Gelato closed its Englewood location after nine years of operation at the end of May, but still has a location at 4940 S. Yosemite St. in Greenwood Village’s Belleview Square.

Tamburello said Little Man has worked closely with Glacier over the years, and was presented the opportunity to take over its five-year lease when its owners decided to downsize.

“We’ve done buildings with huge airplane wings or a giant churn bucket, but this one happened really fast,” Tamburello said of the storefront. “The existing infrastructure was there, so we cruised right through it.”
