Encore! – James BKS: Manu Dibango’s son releases debut album reflecting mixed cultural background

Issued on:

After years in the background as a beatmaker, James BKS is stepping into the light with a first album under his own name. “Wolves of Africa” features many high profile artists such as will.i.am, Idris Elba and the late Cameroonian legend Manu Dibango who James BKS, as a young adult, discovered was his biological father.

He tells France 24’s Florence Villeminot about how that encounter helped him rediscover his Cameroonian roots, and how his music reflects his rich cultural background between France, the US and Cameroon. We also look at some exciting summer releases from Beyoncé, Jack White and Muse.
