Encore! – Eurockéennes: Storms scupper first two days but fail to put a dampener on top music festival

Issued on:

After two years of cancelled events due to the pandemic, it was severe storms that disrupted the opening of one of France’s biggest music festivals. The gates of Les Eurockéennes had only been open for 20 minutes when heavy rain and strong gusts of wind brought down multiple trees across the Belfort event, damaged some of the equipment on site and left several of the early festivalgoers injured.

Although the good weather returned, organisers felt it was safer to cancel the first two days to secure the site, a move welcomed by both festivalgoers and artists. Minutes before the storm hit, FRANCE 24’s Encore! chatted to French rock darlings Feu! Chatterton, who, at the time, were gearing up to play the festival for the very first time. While they never made it on stage, we hear the group will be returning next year.
