Denver weather: Hot with a slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms for Fourth of July
The July Fourth holiday will be hotter than a firecracker with Monday’s temperature inching toward 95 degrees before afternoon storms roll off the mountains.
The morning will be sunny with clear skies before the heat causes conditions to change as air flows over the mountains. There’s a slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms for the urban corridor after noon, with rain most likely happening after 3 p.m., said Evan Direnzo, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service Boulder.
Isolated thunderstorms could bring wind gusts up to 35 miles per hour in some places, Direnzo said.

Any storms should move out of the city by early evening. Overnight temperatures will fall into the high 50 or low 60s, according to the weather service forecast.
The rest of the week will typical July weather for Colorado with high temperatures in the high 80s and low 90s, Direnzo said.
“The best chance for showers is Wednesday for everybody,” he said.
