Aurora Fire investigating RV explosion
A recreational vehicle parked on a roadside in Aurora exploded and caught fire Saturday morning, causing damage to a nearby business.
The RV appeared to be abandoned, and fire investigators are not sure why it was parked on Exposition Avenue, near the intersection with Ohio Drive, Sherry-Jo Stowell, an Aurora Fire Rescue spokeswoman, said. The cause remains under investigation.
The fire started about 8:15 a.m.
“Callers reported an explosion and fire,” Stowell said.
Firefighters did not find any people or pets inside or near the recreational vehicle, Stowell said. The RV also did not have a car attached to it.
The vehicle will be towed.
No firefighters were injured in the blaze, she said.
