Arvada police fatally shoot suspect in theft of truck
Arvada police officers responding to a report of a stolen vehicle shot and killed the theft suspect Monday night after they say he drove toward them.
Officers responded to a report of a stolen Ford F-550 semitrailer tire repair vehicle at 9:07 p.m. in the area of West 58th Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard, Arvada police said Tuesday.
At around 9:25 p.m., officers used an in-vehicle tracker to locate the stolen truck near 7400 W. 61st Ave., police said.
Arvada police said that as officers tried to approach the running vehicle, the suspect got back in “and immediately tried to flee toward officers.” Multiple officers fired their weapons, killing the man.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the man killed by police as Isaiah P. Proctor, 40.
The Jefferson County Critical Incident Team will investigate the use of deadly force by Arvada police officers.
